Who We Are

Our Origin Story

We’re proudly based in Whitefish, Montana, where wide-open spaces meet strong farming traditions. Our homestead is part of a network of families and small farms that value sustainability, self-sufficiency, and wholesome living. Whether you have a small backyard flock or a growing farm, we provide animals, eggs, and seasonal meat that support your homestead goals. Happy Hens & Hounds started with a simple idea: life is better when it’s lived close to the land. Growing up, we savored the sweetness of real, naturally grown watermelons, full of seeds, bursting with flavor, and a little messy in the best way. That childhood memory became the blueprint for how we wanted to live: in tune with nature, nurturing animals and plants with care, and enjoying the honest, simple joys of farm life. When we started our homestead, it wasn’t just about raising animals. It was about creating a space where life thrives naturally: chickens clucking freely in the yard, Indian Runner ducks waddling happily, and Great Pyrenees pups growing strong alongside the flocks they’ll one day protect. Every animal, every seed, every harvest reflects our commitment to ethical, sustainable homesteading.

How We Raise the Animals

Every animal on our homestead is more than livestock; they’re part of the family. Our birds roam freely, pecking and scratching as they explore the yard. Ducks waddle in groups, enjoying ponds and pastures, while our dogs grow up socialized. We pay close attention to flock balance. For example, when there are too many male ducks for the females, we responsibly process the extra birds for seasonal meat, ensuring every animal is cared for and nothing goes to waste. Every chicken, duck, and puppy receives daily attention, love, and respect, so they grow healthy, happy, and confident.
